Membership of the St Joseph’s College Old Boys' Union

All former students of St Joseph’s College are eligible to join the St Joseph’s College Old Boys' Union. Eligibility extends to all former students – no matter how long you were at the College. SJCOBU currently enjoys a membership of over 6,000.

Unlike many other schools, Life Membership of the SJCOBU is entirely voluntary. Our large numbers demonstrate that most Old Boys believe the small investment involved is very worthwhile. Membership of the SJCOBU provides you with a copy of the quarterly magazine of the SJCOBU – the world famous “Cerise & Blue”, eligibility to stand for any of the positions of the SJCOBU Committee and Executive (including President) and a host of other intangible benefits.

Your Life Membership subscription plays a vital role in helping to encourage alumni interest of the Old Boys' Union and make financial contributions to our Bursary Fund. The majority of each subscription helps to increase the capital base of the Bursary Fund. The earnings from the Bursary Fund are used to support the sons of Old Boys, via the annual Old Boys' Bursaries. These are awarded on an annual basis, subject to strict criteria, to assist young men to attend the College who otherwise may not have been able to do so. The Bursary Fund has been granted a Tax Exempt status, so all earnings from the capital base are directed towards Bursaries. Other forms of Membership are available, as shown below. However, Life Membership assists you and the SJCOBU significantly, by both reducing the administrative costs associated with Annual Memberships and by enhancing the Bursary Funds. Payment may also be made online through the secure payment gateway of the College.
